What is Commercial Excellence?
Many companies have a Commercial Excellence department (or team) and each one is slightly different. It can be useful to think of Commercial Excellence departments as Operations departments with added responsibilities and a much greater involvement in strategic decisions.
A typical Commercial Excellence team today has responsibility for Sales Force Excellence (SFE), Marketing Excellence, Digital Strategy, Training/Learning & Development/Capabilities, and Analytics. The primary purpose of the Commercial Excellence department is to ensure there is consistency across departments to create efficiencies and maximise ROI. A well-run Commercial Excellence team can deliver outstanding performance improvement for the organisation.
